Shipping from Haiti is easy: EMS (Express Mail Service) delivers
world-wide in 7 days, for a cost of about one third or less of the
value of our goods. As of $ 500, Air Freight may be the better option.

ABOUT THE
PRODUCT
Recycling is the word: our steel art is made from recycled drums; and
the paper-maché from used cement bags. Most other ingredients (starch,
paints…) are produced locally, except the wood – deforestation is an
acute problem in Haiti. The colors are guaranteed lead-free as per US
standards. Manufacturers’ certificates will be supplied on demand. We
also do custom work.
CHOOSING A
SHIPPING MODE; COMPUTING COSTS SHIPPING IS NO PROBLEM
For orders above $750, in most cases, the best way to ship is by Air
Freight. The air cargo company Amerijet serves Haiti, and delivers to
the Caribbean, the US and Europe. There are also other carriers like
Air Haiti, American Airlines, Air France and ALM. The rates per lb
vary between $ .28 (Air Haiti to Miami), $ .60 to .80 (Continental US
and Canada), $ .35 to .90 (Caribbean Islands) and $ 1.00 to 1.30
(Europe). Compared to the value of our goods, the cost of shipping
airfreight adds between 5% and 15% to the bill. For light-density
cargo, like paper maché, airlines (but not Air Haiti) apply a
Volume-to-Weight conversion formula that can add to the cost.
These estimates apply to large shipments. For shipments below $500,
the minimum charges and the fixed charges (like AWB costs, Fuel
surcharge, Brokerage etc) start costing more than the proportional
costs per lb; we then recommend EMS (Express Mail Service).
EMS, a Postal Union courier, delivers parcels from Haiti to anywhere
in the world in 7 days or less at a cost amounting to about one third
of the value of our goods in most cases, which is less than FEDEX or
UPS. That cost is competitive with the cost of air cargo for small
shipments. An added advantage is that it is delivered not to an
airport, but to a Post Office close to home, and that no broker is
needed. EMS applies no Volume-to-Weight surcharge.
Upon request, Drexco will supply comparative estimates of Air Cargo
(indicate the airport of your choice) vs. EMS.

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Payment preferably by check, to be made payable to West Indies
Exporters a/c No 1705-218-4 and sent c/o M&T Bank (Manufacturers and
Traders Trust Co), 350 Park Ave, New York, NY 10022, USA, making sure
to endorse them "for deposit only" to our a/c number.
Wiring (ABA No 022000046)is more expensive, as often the issuing bank
deducts an amount varying between $ 20.00 and 50.00, and our bank
charges a standard $25.00 fee. If you prefer to wire, please make sure
that the full amount will reach our account and add $ 25.00 for the
de-wiring bank charges.
